Tirne ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using our Service, you agree to accept all the terms contained in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the practices described herein, please do not access and use our Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not give access to your personal information to third parties except to subprocessors to assist us in the provision of our services to you.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide
- Account Information: Email address, username, display name, profile photo
- Photos and Images: Photos you capture or upload to share as traces
- Videos: Video content you record or upload through the App
- Text Content: Captions, comments, reactions, and written messages
- Contacts: With your explicit permission, we access your device contacts to help you find friends. Contact data is processed locally and not stored on our servers
- Communications: Feedback, support requests, and messages you send to us
b. Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
- Usage Data: Features you use, interactions, timestamps of activity
- Log Data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, crash reports
- Push Notification Tokens: To deliver notifications to your device
c. Device Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions:
- Camera: To capture photos and record videos for traces
- Microphone: To record audio for video sound
- Photo Library: To select existing photos and videos from your device
- Contacts: To help you find friends who use Tirne
- Notifications: To send you updates about activity in your circle
All permissions are optional and can be managed in your device settings at any time.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Create and manage your account
- Display your content (photos, videos, text) to your circle
- Send push notifications about activity on your account
- Suggest connections based on mutual friends
- Detect and prevent security incidents and abuse
- Respond to your questions, feedback, and requests
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Media Storage and Processing
Photos and videos you share are uploaded to our secure cloud storage (Supabase Storage). Media files are stored as long as your account is active or until you delete the content. We do not use your media for training AI models, advertising, or any purpose other than displaying it to your intended audience within the App.
5. Sharing of Information
We may share your information:
- With Your Circle: Content you post is visible to people in your circle
- With Your Consent: When you direct us to share information
- Service Providers: With third parties who perform services on our behalf (hosting, storage)
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights
- Safety: To prevent fraud, abuse, or threats to safety
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL) and implement strict access controls and authentication. Media files are stored in private buckets with access-controlled URLs. While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is 100% secure.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access & Update: Edit your profile information, posts, and media anytime
- Delete Content: Remove individual posts, photos, or videos at any time
- Deactivate: Hide your account while preserving your data
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and all associated data
- Manage Permissions: Revoke camera, microphone, contacts, or notification access through your device settings at any time
8. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and media files within 30 days. Some anonymized data may be retained for analytics. Certain records may be retained as required by law.
9. Children's Privacy
Tirne is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect information from children under these ages. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Database, authentication, file storage, and real-time infrastructure
- Expo: App development framework and push notification delivery
- Vercel: Website hosting
Each provider has their own privacy policy governing their handling of data.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to: know what personal information is collected; request deletion of personal information; opt-out of sale of personal information (we do not sell data); and non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise your rights, email privacy@tirne.app.
12. International Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights including: access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. Our legal basis for processing is your consent and legitimate interest in providing the Service.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
